Geddy's Birthday Weekend Extravaganza: Part One

Wed decided to spend the whole weekend (July 24-27) celebrating Geddy's birthday. Scott and I both had the 24th off from work due to Pioneer Day. We had planned on taking Geddy mini-golfing. He woke up early Friday morning with a very plugged nose and a fever. When we tried telling him we were not going mini-golfing, he got very upset. So we went ahead and went to Cascade in Orem. It was very, very, very hot out and Geddy wasn't feeling well so we tried to go as fast as we could. It worked out well because Geddy actually listened to us and played a great game. Something he wouldn't have done if he had been his usual hyper self. After that we went straight home and he had a very long nap.

Saturday we had more festivities planned. Geddy had completed the Summer Reading program at the Provo Library. That means he listened to Mom or Dad read for 15 minutes a day every day for the whole summer. Nothing too unusual there, it just got to count towards a prize. And because we had read him at least four non-fiction books (we actually read lots more than that, but it only required four) we got to go to a Ronald McDonald Magic Show. Geddy was excited going into the show, even though he still didn't feel well.

Unfortunately, Ronald was not as exciting as we had hoped. Apparently he had the wrong times for the library shows and showed up 40 minutes late so he didn't have time to set up his regular show. I think he only did three tricks. He had one girl up on the stage with him for most the show being his assistant (not very fair to all the other kids there). He tried to be funny, but not everyone thought he was. Though maybe he would have been had he talked properly into the microphone.
Despite being disappointed by Ronald, Geddy still had a great day. He asked to eat at the "waterfall restaurant". That is the Mayan up in Sandy. They have cliff-divers to entertain you while you eat. Sadly, none of my photos of the diving turned out. We were in a horrible seat and it was too dark. I haven't played with my camera enough to know the right setting.
But we did get some fun pictures with the giant snakes in front of the restaurant.
And in the waiting area, Geddy was pretending he was the Ooga-Booga Man. (From Hilarious House of Frightenstein - a jungle explorer).
His quesadilla and fries. He was just faking excitement, he liked the fries, but the chicken in the quesadilla was too spicy for him.

After lunch we went to Toys 'R Us down the road. Geddy was super excited when we pulled in the parking lot and he saw this:


A real-life Ghostbuster car. We were letting him pick out something for his birthday but all he could think about was finding the Ghostbusters. We never did see them, but the car was gone when we left.
