It's Great to be Eight, part three!

Cub Scouts!!!!!! His first ever Cub Scout event was Day Camp. They had to be up and on their way by 6:30am, so it's a good thing he is an early riser. He loved it. The first two are pictures I took when he got home. The rest are some his leader took at Camp Jeremiah Johnson and posted to facebook. I just borrowed them. ;) If you are having trouble finding Geddy in the photos, he is the only kid with long grey sweatpants on. They had said it was often cold and rainy there so I made him wear pants. Everyone else was in shorts -he didn't mind though.

His favorite activity by far of the day - BB guns. I am not an expert by any means, but I think he looks in good shooting form in this picture.

He had been really looking forward to archery. But he ended up not liking it. My theory is because he is left-handed and they were probably showing him as a right-handed which would have confused him.

It's Great to be Eight, part two!

On Saturday August 2, 2014 at 10am. Geddy was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Aunt Carrie and Uncle Ben drove down from Logan for the special event. Thanks to Aunt Carrie for all these photos. And thanks to Uncle Ben for his part in the proceedings as well.

 It was a beautiful baptism. We asked our good friends Stephanie and David Harris to give the prayers. Stephanie had her baby the night before so she was not able to attend. But the rest of the family came and Geddy asked his friend Kristen, their oldest daughter, to give the prayer in place of her mom. His primary teacher, and good friend and neighbor, Coleen Lundquist gave the talk on baptism. My good friend and Geddy's babysitter for many years, Chelsey Clay, gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. Aunt Carrie did a lovely job of playing the piano. The primary president gave Geddy a copy of the Book of Mormon that she had everyone who attended the baptism sign. This is a great way for Geddy to remember those that shared his special day. We had donuts and juice afterwards in the picnic area so we could visit. Aunt Elaine and cousin Michelle also came down from Orem. Several ward members were there as well as his friend Matthew's family. Grandpa Bruce and Grandma Lorrayne had planned for months to attend but had to cancel their trip due to some health concerns with Grandpa. But we know they were thinking of us and would have been there if they could. Now we are looking forward to when Grandpa gets better and they can come out for a visit.

Oops, how could I forget?!

I forgot to mention the most important game we played at his birthday party. The Cat Meowing Contest! I made up a dozen blue ribbons, each with a different title. Some were loudest meow, silliest meow, wildest meow, most realistic meow, etc... We had each kid give their version and Scott and I were the judges. We made sure each kid won a category. They loved it and it sure got out some energy although they were just sitting at the table. Hard to get pictures of this one, but Scott did get some video. I will try and put some on later.
