The Geddy Creature from Lagoon

Okay, okay. I know it was a lame title for this entry. But Geddy likes the Creature from the Black Lagoon and since we were at Lagoon I thought I would play with it and that was the best I could come up with. A few weeks ago some friends from Calgary, the Sorensons, were visiting family in Bountiful/Woods Cross area. We met them one day at Lagoon to spend some time together. After paying an arm and a leg to get in (even with discount coupons!) I was determined that Geddy and I were going to go on rides. This might come as a shock to some of you that know how much I love stuff like this. Geddy was a little nervous at first and we didn't help by taking him into a haunted house for his first ride! I thought since he likes monsters so much he might enjoy it, boy was I wrong! We tried getting him on several little kids rides after that and none of them were winners as far as Geddy was concerned! Finally Scott, Brad, Billy and Adam went off to ride the big rides. Rebecca, Amy, Jenny, Geddy and I stayed in the kids area. I finally just took Geddy on this little dragon roller coaster. I though he might have fun since I was with him.

He does have a bit of a grimace on his face, but this is the before picture! When it was all over I asked him what he thought of the ride. His answer, "That was exciting! Let's do some more!" So my strategy worked! And you all get to see a rare picture of me with Geddy! (Thanks for taking the picture Rebecca!)

Then Geddy was excited to ride this cool dragon. It went up and around and when he got off
he told me it was really cool. It felt like he was flying "Darth Vader's ship!"

This was one of his favorite rides. Just a little car that went around a track through a little landscaped area, over a bridge. Basically your nice little Sunday drive through the country.
Here he is waiting in line with Amy in front of him and Jenny behind him. I think he was developing a bit of a crush on Jenny! Late in the day she was sad about something and Geddy went up to her and gave her a big hug and asked her what was wrong. It was too cute!
Flying a helicopter - again like Darth Vader's ship - that is why he picked the black one!
Geddy and his best friend, Adam! These two were near inseparable the whole day. Geddy remembered being at the Sorenson's house New Year's Eve and playing rock band with Adam.

Scott, Rebecca, Brad, and Billy on some crazy ride that got you all wet and whirled you around and upside down. I was more than happy to watch from the ground with all the little kids.

I love this picture. Geddy and Adam just sitting back and enjoying the train ride around Lagoon. Geddy kept calling Adam his "best boy".
Geddy was way too serious on this ride. There was a gun mounted on the front that actually had sound effects. Geddy and this other little boy had quite the battle as the went around circles. Scott had to go in and drag Geddy off the thing when it stopped, he just wanted to keep shooting the gun!

The little kid boat ride. Geddy had not been a fan the first two times I tried getting him on it. But that was before I took him on the roller coaster. He did enjoy it this time, but as usual, he was a little too serious.
The airplane was fun too. He could control how high or low the plane went with a stick shift.

Geddy and Scott coming out of the big water slide. He said he had fun, but didn't want to do it again!
Another fun ride with Daddy. Again, I thought they were a little crazy to go on this one. It didn't quite agree with Scott's stomach, too much spinning too fast.
The kid bumper cars were probably his favorite ride of the whole day! He didn't do much smashing. He kind of just went around in a big circle, but he loved it! He loved that the car actually responded to his moving the steering wheel. Two things I loved that Geddy did on this ride. First, Adam helped him pick a car before he got his own. Geddy sat right down and immediately put his seat belt on! Second, when the ride was over, Geddy got out of his car and lifted the hood to see what was inside!

How fun...I never made it up to Lagoon when I was at BYU...but I sure heard enough about it. The boys both like rides, but did very few at the county fair...the prices were outrageous...$1 per ticket...and each ride took at least 3 tickets!! They each had $5 and then Grandpa donated $10 to the cause so they each got 3 rides I think...N hadn't been on one by himself before, but got to and loved it (flying airplanes). Brian got on the merry go round with them because there were no belts to hold the kids on to the horses and we didn't trust N to not climb off...good thing he did because I swear I have never seen a merry go round start off at such a fast speed...they were almost a blur. Anyway, should've just emailed you :) So glad you guys had fun and Geddy looks like he had a blast!!
