This blog is still mostly about Geddy!

Last week, Geddy was playing with a plastic lid from his kitchen cupboard. He was telling me it was Captain America's Shield. I thought wow, what a good idea, I can paint it and make it really look like Captain America's Shield. It was pretty easy, though the paint didn't want to stick to the plastic lid. (In retrospect, I should have used some fine sandpaper to rough up the surface a bit, but it was a spur of the moment thing)! And yes, my star is not perfectly centered - my template shifted thanks to Geddy's assistance. Scott was very quick to point this fact out to me. Geddy doesn't care about things being perfectly-centered. As you can see, he is quite happy with his new toy!

I have not been on the computer much for the past few weeks as we have been focusing on potty-training! Geddy has been doing fabulous! Much better than I expected. I was not looking forward to the whole potty-training process, but it hasn't been near as bad as I anticipated. He generally will wear the same pair of underwear all day long - no accidents. He does get Pull-ups for the evening when I am at work. He is really good at treating them like underwear though. This makes it a lot easier on Dad in case there is an accident of any kind. I am so proud of my big boy!

Grandma Cheryl gave us some money so we could buy something for Geddy from her. Geddy has been obsessing about "real Legos" (not Mega Blocks) lately so we took him to Wal-Mart's Lego section and let him pick a set out. He, of course, picked an Indiana Jones set. He spent all Saturday evening and most of Sunday playing and building (with Dad's help) this cool Lego set.

He even helped pick them up when we were all done. He is usually quite opposed to cleaning up his messes, but he was so fascinated by all of the little pieces that he thought it was fun to pick them up and put them in a bag.

What was I thinking!?

Okay, I don't know what I was thinking with my last entry and the list. That would be way too long of a list. I mean it is already ridiculously long and that is only 2 1/2 months into 2009. So, I will go back to my original idea which is to only list the books that I really liked and would consider buying for my own personal library. That should make it a little more manageable.

Book List

Some of you may have noticed a new list on the right side of this blog. I have several people ask me what books I am reading or have read. This list is a partial list. It includes all teen and children's chapter books - basically 1st/2nd grade and up. I don't necessarily like or recommend all of these books. I will try to put a note following the title if it is a particularly bad book. Likewise, I will put a star if it is a must-read. Doing this will save everyone from having to read my lists as posts next year! I read lots of comics, picture books, and non-fiction as well so expect to see another list pop up soon. Also, it is not in order by favorites either, it is just plain old alphabetical order.

Geddy's Homemade Drum Set

When I asked Geddy why he was emptying his kitchen cupboard, he told me he was "building a drum set". This is the result. He "practiced" for almost half an hour. If you listen to what he says at the end, he is asking me to "make a video of that one". He will be getting a "real" drum set for his birthday. I found a small one on clearance at Wal-Mart for only $9 (usually $20). It is hiding in the basement until July. He also told me that he was "fast like the guy from Rush". Maybe we named him after the wrong band member.

Early Mornings, Long Days

Today started off great, we had to wake Geddy up at 6:30 am just to find out what he did with Scott's comb. Scott was trying to get ready for work and came and asked me to help him look for it. After searching everywhere we could think of we finally decided to wake Geddy up. Luckily, Geddy wakes up fast and fully alert. When we asked him if he knew where Daddy's comb was, he immediately answered "the computer room". I said, "no, Mama already looked in there, where did you put it last night?" He again says "It is in the computer room with Spanky's comb". He jumped up and went back to the computer room and pulled both combs off the bookshelf where he had stuck them in between stacks of books. There was no way Scott or I would have ever noticed them there, let alone looked for them there. I wasn't too bothered by waking Geddy up because I thought he would take a nap. Yeah right! He has refused to take a nap, now it is too late for him to have one if we want him to go to sleep at all tonight. So it will be a long afternoon of trying to keep him awake. We are also in the midst of potty-training which is quite frustrating for both Geddy and me. He has done well the past couple of days with minimal accidents. Today though, he is wetting his pants on purpose because he wants a diaper on. At least that is what he is telling me. He says, "I go pee in my pants, I don't want to use the toilet, I want a diaper." Then he proceeds to go before I can get him in the bathroom. I told him if that's how he wants to do things, so be it, he is still not going to have a diaper on until it is time for me to go to work. I just know if I give into him today, then it will be harder to keep going with it tomorrow. Sorry no pictures, our computer has been a pain lately. Hopefully by tomorrow I will get them uploaded and a more interesting entry in our blog.
