I'm Thirsty Mom!

As some of you may know, I have returned to working one or two nights a week at Smith's grocery store in Provo. I help change the price tags for the weekly ad on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. I generally get home around 6 or 6:30 in the morning. Geddy usually is pretty good about letting me sleep on the couch while he watches TV and plays with his toys and reads his books. One Wednesday morning early in December Geddy told me he was thirsty. Still quite groggy, I just told him to go get his bottle of flavored water out of the fridge.
I should've known something was wrong when he said he didn't need me to help open it (I knew I had closed it really tight earlier) and he didn't laugh when he heard the little hissing sound come out when he first opened it. (It was some kind of sparkling flavored water). Then Geddy proceeds to take a huge gulp and immediately started gagging. He told me it tasted really yucky and it must have "expired". So, still being quite sleepy, I just told him to throw it in the garbage and I will get him something else soon. I think that is the end of the story until I wake up for good about half an hour later. I open the fridge to get him a drink and see this:
His drink is still in the fridge. I ask him why he didn't throw it away. He tells me he did and shows me the bottle in the garbage.
No wonder it tasted yucky!! I am surprised he actually swallowed it and didn't spew it all over the couch.
I can see why he was confused: the bottles are almost the same size, same logo on the label, and he thought the tomatoes on the vinegar bottle were cherries! Poor kid! He has been much more cautious when getting drinks out of the fridge!

This little episode reminded me of a trick Beth and I played on Sarah (or was it Carrie? Maybe both?) when we were younger. Mom had made spinach for dinner so there was a small glass pitcher with regular brown  vinegar in it on the counter. We convinced our innocent little sister that it was apple juice so she would take a drink. We thought it was funny, though I am sure they did not. I wonder if my little sisters even like apple juice after that episode? Sisters, when you read this tell your version of the story, because maybe I am remembering it wrong!
