Little Athlete part 1

One evening last week Geddy was going crazy playing all of his favorite sports. So I finally took the opportunity to get some video. The one I am putting on here today is him playing Nerf Basketball. He is definitely showing a favoritism for all things basketball. The video will probably show dark, but hopefully you can see it well enough. I finally figured out why it shows so dark on this blog. The video is a lot smaller than when I view it on my computer. When viewed at normal size the lighting is fine, unfortunately I can't change the size of blogger videos. Sound isn't important but is kind of cute, especially his little burp at the end.

We are all being bothered by a cold. I think Geddy brought it home from nursery last week. He has been fighting a congestion and cough thing since Christmas, but last Tuesday he got a lot worse. Luckily it was time for his 18 month check-up, so we got everything taken care of at once. He is on antibiotics for his upper respiratory infection (both ears slightly and sinuses). He checked out well for his 18-month. He is about 29 pounds and 33 1/2 inches tall! The Dr. was quite impressed with his coordination and agility. He also was amazed with his comprehension level. His speech development is right on for his age. I am glad he isn't advanced in that category, I don't think I could handle him speaking in full sentences yet!

Scott and I both came down with a cold on Thursday, but seem to be doing better today. Tomorrow Geddy and I both get to spend the day in Provo again. Our Little Faithful car is having some problems. All normal due to old age (14 years) and a hard life (200,000 miles), but we need this car to get us through a few more months so we have to get the problems (coolant leak) taken care of.

Powder Fresh!

(yesterday) Apparently Geddy was upset that I hadn't put powder on him after his bath. While I was getting ready for work in the next room, Geddy was getting into mischief in his room. Whenever he gets really, really quiet, I always know he is up to something. This is what he was doing when I went to check on him. His first words to me were, "ba-ball, mama" as he points up to the organizer where his basketball has replaced the powder container. Needless to say, I grabbed the camera and laughed. Unfortunately, I wiped a lot of the powder off his face before taking the pictures.
Today he was a very good little boy and played in the kitchen and colored while I worked on some craft projects. He especially loved when I had my cardboard cutting mat out. He thought that was a very cool thing to play with and try and crawl under. Sorry, no pictures of that. He took felt scraps from the floor and put them in a bowl and was "feeding" it to his teddy bear. His bear was even responding with a loud "mmmmmmm". Quite an imagination already!

January is flying by!

I can not believe how fast time flies. It is already halfway through January and I haven't even finished everyone's Christmas gifts! Geddy is keeping me quite busy. He is no longer content just to play in our living room, even though it is quite large. He wants the freedom of the whole house. So I try to block off part of the kitchen so he can't get into the cupboards under the sink or go down the stairs to the garage door (something that he can do quite fast and silently so I have no idea he even went that way). Then I just have to remember to shut the doors to the bathroom, computer room, and our bedroom so he can be free to roam the kitchen, hallway, living room and his bedroom. Luckily he isn't a kid who likes to put weird things in his mouth or I would really have to worry about Spanky's food corner. All Geddy likes to do there is splash the water out of the cat's dish and scatter his dry food or treats around so he can "help" mama sweep them up. I am finally able to do some craft projects I have wanted to. I just put some phone books on a kitchen chair and scooted Ged up to the table and he was quite happy with a Fantastic Four coloring book and some crayons.

His favorite game to play with dad lately is baseball. He is quite coordinated using a empty soda bottle as the bat and a small plastic ball. He thinks it is quite hilarious when he hits the ball into the wall, TV, piano, mama or dad. He has always loved basketball, but he has obsessed about it since last Friday night when he got to watch dad play on the church team. He wanted to get down and play with that big basketball more than anything. He practiced his dribbling in between halves. The only time he didn't watch the game was the last quarter because dad was sitting out and there was a little girl wanting to play with him that quite distracted him.

We finally got a new printer for our computer. It is one that prints really nice photos. I am so excited to finally be able to print my own pictures at home instead of sending away for them. So I have been busy doing that instead of taking new photos. I am also finally getting into a normal sleep pattern and it is actually making me feel more tired than ever. I guess I just need to get readjusted. Geddy sleeps (most nights) for 10-12 hours straight. He is finally getting over his cough that he has had since Christmas. So night time is becoming a much more peaceful time in our house.

Applesauce

In the past couple of weeks Geddy has mastered using the spoon and fork. He fed himself raviolis and applesauce for lunch yesterday. Normally he isn't very messy, but when I took too long coming to get him after he hollered "all done" he decided to use applesauce to mousse his hair. I couldn't resist the picture-taking opportunity. He demanded a bath while I was taking his picture. I had already told him he wouldn't be getting a bath because I had to get ready for work. I think this was his sneaky way of insuring he got his bath!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Geddy did stay up to ring in 2008 with us. His sleep schedule has been off lately with Grandma visiting and Dad being home for a couple of weeks. Here he is watching Dick Clark about five minutes before midnight.We thought he would be a bit more excited watching the ball drop, he loves balls of all kinds. I think he was finally deciding he was tired. He did watch the ball and was a bit concerned when Mama, Dada and Grandma cheered and clapped with all the people on TV.
After the ball dropped, he said "all done" and went straight to bed. I had hoped this would mean we all got to sleep in the next morning, but Geddy was up and climbing the walls at 8:30 the next morning.
I have more pictures from Christmas I will try and post soon. Geddy is still loving all the toys and books he got especially that Elmo cell phone.
