Second Grade is So Grown-Up!

Wow, I have a second-grader! That is kind of hard for me to wrap my head around. This summer hasn't been perfect, but we did have some fun. I am kind of glad but also a bit sad that school has started up again. I will miss my little guy during the day, but I am glad he gets to be around lots of kids every day now. And as usual he had to make taking a picture entertaining!

Finally!

Notice the wound on his chin? Yesterday he was playing with a PVC pipe rocket launcher thing, using it as a microphone and dancing. Apparently he was bouncing a little to vigorously and gouged his chin on the outside from the pipe and messed up the inside of his lip with his tooth. At least mouths heal fairly quickly.
We also found out a couple of days ago that he needs glasses, at least for the classroom. He is actually quite excited about them as it adds to his feelings of second grade being so grown up. He is upset that he doesn't get them until next week though. When we went to his open house yesterday his teacher, Mrs. Anderson, said she would probably have to put him in the back row since he is so tall. I asked her to wait until he gets his glasses to do that which of course she is happy to do. She is a new teacher at the school, but she seems pretty awesome and Geddy is very excited to be in her class.

I didn't realize Geddy had started back already!! The boys are excited that their summer vacation gets to be a little longer than usual since Oregon doesn't start until after Labor Day. They got to see their new school yesterday - both had one word for them - BIG! Tell Ged that Joshua got his glasses right at the beginning of 2nd grade too and only wore them for classwork at first. (By spring it was apparent that he needed the all the time since he couldn't see the baseball coming at him during Little League). Nathaniel will be getting his eyes tested as soon as we get settled and find a new eye doctor...he has no prob with distance, but we're seeing some issues with close up work. Love you guys!!
