Saturday morning I decided to take Geddy to the Payson City Egg Hunt - though why they call it an Egg "Hunt" I will never know. It was cold so I thought there wouldn't be too many people there - WRONG!! There were hundreds just on the 3 and under field. The lovely plastic eggs were just strewn across the baseball field. Once that siren blew and everyone started running - craziness! That field was cleared in probably less than a minute. I went out on the field with Geddy more as a bodyguard than anything else, he picked up all of his own eggs. It kind of bothered me the parents that were out there with little babies that couldn't even walk and they were grabbing so many eggs it wasn't funny. As you can see from the above picture, Geddy was having fun, he didn't really care how many eggs he got.
After that we moved on to Payson Market where I thought they were going to have a pleasant little egg hunt or something like the scavenger hunt we had done at Macey's grocery store in Provo on Friday. NO!!! There were again, hundreds of people lined up at this little grocery store. We got in line in the cold and waited until they lined everyone up by age group and took them in to the store. They had a couple of aisles blocked off for each group and they had literally buried the floor in candy and toys. When it was Geddy's turn the store employee said kids only, no parents. I thought that made sense so I let Geddy go with her (I do know pretty much all the employees in the store as I think I am in there daily). After the first 4 or 5 parents let their kids go all the other parents started crushing in after - craziness. I eventually work my way in to the aisle where he is and I can not see him anywhere. It takes a good fifteen minutes for the parents to clear out enough so I can work my way through the aisle. I finally see Geddy calmly up against the shelves stuffing salt water taffy into his bag. He didn't really even seem aware of the chaos around him. He seriously ended up with several pounds of taffy, pencils, yo-yos, an Easter Rubix cube, and other Easter toys. I saw other kids with stuffed animals, hair accessories, inflatable toys, books - lots of good stuff. I just don't know if I will take Geddy again, it was just a little to insane for my tastes. The oldest group was 8-10 year-olds and there were several limping away after they attacked their aisle. I even saw one girl with scratches on her face.
But he did get his picture taken with the Easter Bunny.
Then we went home and got Scott and headed to Provo/Orem. We went to Barnes and Noble for their Easter story time and egg hunt. It was a true hunt through the kids section even though there was a limit of three eggs per child. No pictures there, sorry.
Late that night we finally decorated eggs. It is the first time I have done it since I lived at home with my parents and sisters. Geddy thought it was magic.
The Easter Bunny brought him a little Mr. Tickle along with a kite, an outdoor horseshoe/ring toss set, chocolate bunny, and a few other toys.
He did a great job finding all the real eggs that we had left out for the Easter Bunny along with a whole bunch of candy filled sports eggs the Easter Bunny brought himself.
He was pretty excited (and proud) of all the eggs he found.
Spanky was just curious!
We found a funny bunny tennis/badminton set at Wal-Mart that Geddy insisted his Daddy would love. So of course, we buy it and Geddy loves it even more than Scott. They pretty much played all day yesterday using the ball and birdie that came with it as well as a balloon. Nice and safe for indoors use - mostly!
Geddy quickly discovered that he could use the racket as a bunny mask. Silly boy!
Oh yeah, and we woke up to this Easter morning. It was Easter right? Not Christmas?
Most of it was gone by the evening, but we are supposed to get more. Where's Spring?

The Easter Bunny sure did a great job...and he left kites at our house for our boys, too! They wanted to take them out Sunday morning - but the wind was WAY too strong for kites! I'll post our Easter pics later. I LOVE the picture of Geddy with the raquet over his face!
I know, Happy Easter, right? I thought it would be funny to get the Christmas Tree out again and pretend we'd gone back in time....if I was rich I really would have done Christmas all over again--hee hee.
Wow! Those egg hunts sounded frightening! I feel so uncomfortable in big, pushy crowds; I always get squashed...I'm impressed that Geddy took it all in stride; haha! Sounds like he got a great haul of fun stuff from those hunts. I love the basketball plastic eggs you gave him--those are so cute and can we say too perfect for words? Great pictures!
The Payson Easter egg hunt was a joke. I don't think we will go next year. They really shouldn't allow parents to help their kids pick up eggs. We were all freezing.
At least you had some fun in the chaos.
We thought about going to Payson Market also, but after going to the city hunt we decided to stay home.
