This would require a home-made costume because it isn't a popular enough character for anyone else to have made it commercially. I was willing and I hope able, to do this for him. I waited until a month or so ahead of time for a couple of reasons:1) cost of supplies, 2) in case he grew a lot (which he grew over an inch between May and October) and 3) in case he changed his mind.
The day I was ready to go buy everything and get started he told me, "Mom, no offense or anything, but I don't want to be Hawkeye anymore. I want to be Wolverine." This wasn't too surprising as he had mentioned Wolverine as a backup if I couldn't make the Hawkeye costume. I was a little sad not to get the chance to test my creativity, but a little glad not to have to spend the money.
Then came the task of finding a Wolverine costume. Every other year we have seen plenty of such costumes in stores but he was not interested at that time. However, this year, when we actually wanted one, there were none to be found. We looked in every store and they weren't sold out, he just wasn't in the popular mix this year. Possibly due to his movie being more for adults this last year. Thank goodness for Amazon.com!
I walked down to Payson Market with him the day before Halloween for their annual Trunk or Treat. It was quite cold, but kind of fun. He loves to see the other kids costumes and show off his own.
Silly boy with his treat bag. Sometimes it was a little hard to pick up those candies with the claws on but he managed just fine.
Halloween afternoon we took him to our traditional Downtown Provo Trick-or-Treat street to all the businesses. Here we are taking a little break for dinner.
